Foundation
Featured in American Guild of Organists Meeting
09/20/21
The Seattle chapter of the American Guild of
Organists featured the Pipe Organ Foundation in its meeting on September
20, 2021, a meeting organized by Howard Wolvington who is Dean-Elect of
the Seattle chapter. The meeting
began with a 50-minute video in which Carl Dodrill, President of the
Foundation, first presented basic information about the Foundation and
its work. The organ
currently being rebuilt in the shop for Faith Lutheran Church in Seattle
(Opus 11) was then shown and played by Roger Meers, a board member of
the Foundation. The
presentation then moved to Mercer Island Presbyterian Church where the
Foundation’s organ (Opus 2) was shown and then played by church organist
Eric Johnson. Finally, the
organ at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Issaquah (Opus 6) was played by
Beverly Roecker who is a board member of the Foundation and one of the
organists at the church.
Following the video, the local chapter then had a Zoom meeting in which
the work of the Foundation was discussed.
Thanks are expressed to Howard Wolvington and the Seattle chapter of the AGO for featuring this overview of the work of the Foundation, and also to Roger, Eric, and Beverly for their excellent contributions as organists. You can watch the entire video on YouTube at this link.
